Last Man Standing is a 1996 film about a gunslinger who becomes embroiled in the conflict between two gangs. John Smith (Bruce Willis) arrives in Jericho, Texas on the way to Mexico and just steps ahead of the law. He finds a town that has nearly been destroyed by rival gangs who are both running liquor through Jericho. Smith initially hires himself out to the Italian mob run by Strozzi (Ned Eisenberg), before changing his mind and becoming part of the Irish gang headed by Doyle (David Patrick Kelly). When a Border Patrol officer is killed during a skirmish between the two gangs, a Texas Ranger named Captain Tom Pickett (Ken Jenkins) comes into Jericho intent on finding justice. He warns everyone that if the violence between the two gangs does not stop, he will return with a squadron of Rangers and wipe both gangs out. Rather than leave, though, the two gangs ratchet up the violence, forcing Smith to think quickly in order to stay alive.
