Late Bloomers is a 1996 film that combines romance, comedy, and drama all into one unique film. Dina Groshart (Connie Nelson) and Carly Lumpkin (Dee Hennigan) are the main characters in this exciting flick. Late Bloomers portrays the tale of a gay romance between a high school basketball coach and the school secretary. Carly is a happy wife and mother of two beautiful children and Dina is a single, middle aged math teacher who fills her lonely, boring life by coaching the girls' basketball team. These two women have great contempt for each other and decide to challenge the other to a series of games of one on one basketball. These games continue and gradually, Dina and Carly become friends. Then they become more than that as the games get more and more intense, physically and emotionally. These feelings cause great chaos in both the community and throughout the school system.
