Laughing Boy is a 2002 indie-film centered around a peculiar man who refuses to adapt a more socially-acceptable personality despite the awkward situations he frequently finds himself in. Written by George Douglas Lee and directed by Joe Grisaffi, Laughing Boy promises a "less artsy, more fartsy" film about a man who humiliates himself excessively at what is visibly a shallow corporate dinner party. Cody (Brazil J. Grisaffi) and his wife Judy (Anne Quackenbush) are invited to a friend's engagement party - an event Cody anticipates having not been to a social event in ages. Once there, he spots his boss Elizabeth (Therese Kotara) - an attractive woman he has lusted over for several months. Cody has every intention of impressing her with witty remarks, but winds up embarrassing his wife instead. It is clear that Cody only further humiliates himself with each new attempt he makes at doing the exact opposite. Will Cody rectify his awkward scenarios at the expense of losing his true personality? Laughing Boy is a great film with experiences most can probably relate to. Two thumbs up!moreless
