Lawrence of Arabia is an epic biographical drama directed by David Lean and released in 1962. The screenplay was written by Robert Bolt and based on the writings of T.E. Lawrence, a famous British military leader who helped the Arab world defeat the Ottoman Turks during the First World War. Lawrence of Arabia (Peter O'Toole) is an ambitious intelligence officer stationed in Cairo during World War One. As tensions grow between the Turks and the Arabs, Lawrence is sent to investigate the situation. Sympathetic to the Arab cause, Lawrence organizes lethal guerilla forces and over the next two years leads the Arabs in a relentless series of camel attacks, surprise raids and sabotage. Lawrence of Arabia is a beautifully filmed movie that tells the fascinating and true story of one of the most colorful characters in British military history.
