Laws of Deception is a 1997 suspense-thriller film directed by Joey Travolta, with the script written by Rollin Jarrett. The film tells the story of a young boy who witnessed the murder of his parents and now seeks justice as one of the leading criminal lawyers of the country. Evan Marino (Thomas Howell) is one of America's top law student who attends University of Miami Law School. He was orphaned at six years old when his parents were killed by a mob. Twenty years later, his goal is to become the top criminal lawyer of the country to serve justice for everyone. After graduating college, he works in a successful Miami law firm. One of his first clients is Elise Talbot (Amber Talbot), who happens to be his ex-girlfriend in college. Elise is accused of murdering his husband who owns a strip bar in downtown Miami. The two reignites the flame they once had back in college. Soon after, Evan finds out that Elise's husband is one of the assassins that killed his parents. Unknown to him, Elise is hired by the mob who killed his parents and uses her to know how much he remembers about his parents murderers. In his world surrounded by lies and deception, when will Evan realize that he is being manipulated by the mob? Will he be able to realize it soon enough to serve justice against the people responsible for the death of his parents and to punish them accordingly for their crimes?
