Le Notti di Cabiria is a 1957 drama directed by Frederico Fellini. Cabiria Ceccarelli (Giulietta Masina) is a beautiful young woman who has a bright outlook on life, despite her poverty and the fact that she needs to work as a prostitute to get by. The men in her life treat Cabiria poorly, often taking advantage of her kind and trusting nature. Believing she will never really find true love or happiness, Cabiria's optimistic facade slips and she prays for someone or something that will give her life new meaning and purpose. When she meets Oscar D'Onofrio (Fran''ois P''rier), an attractive young accountant, Cabiria soon decides that Oscar is exactly the kind of miracle she was hoping to receive. The two enjoy a whirlwind romance before Oscar impulsively proposes, giving Cabiria a glimpse into the happy and domestic life she wants. However, it soon becomes clear that Cabiria's knight in shining armor might not be as good as he seems.
