Le Professionnel (The Professional) is a 1981 action film staring Jean-Paul Belmondo (Breathless, Pierrot Le Fou, Two Women). The film is based off of a famous novel called Death of a Thin-Skinned Animal by Patrick Alexander. Georges Lautner directs. Joss Beaumont (Jean Paul Belmondo) is a devout government agent sent to the fictional country of Malagawi where he is to dethrone the tyrannical dictator Colonel Njala. However, there is a shift in plans before Beaumont can fulfill his duty. As the political scenes change, he is strangely betrayed by his government and imprisoned by Malagawian officials. After two years of incarceration, Beaumont makes a daring escape and sets out to complete his mission once and for all. Will the French government stop him in time? The film also stars Jean Desailly and Robert Hossein. The film is complete with a musical score done by Ennio Morricone. Le Professionnel is a great film for all those who revel in French action film.moreless
