Leave Her to Heaven is a 1945 drama film. The film centers around Richard Harland (Cornel Wilde), a man who has just been released from prison. Most of the film features Richard's flashbacks of his past. In one particular flashback, viewers see how Richard meets socialite Ellen Berent (Gene Tierney) at a party. She is engaged to another man, but once she meets Richard, Ellen immediately falls in love, calls off her engagement and marries him. At first, things seem good but Richard soon realizes that Ellen is a very jealous woman. Even though Ellen becomes pregnant, the couple still find it hard to get along. Tragedy strikes when Richard's younger brother, Danny Harland (Daryl Hickman) drowns and Ellen trips and falls down the stairs, losing their unborn child. Richard figures out that Ellen is responsible for both of these tragedies. What Ellen does next will effect the lives of many people, including Richard's.
