Legends of Flight is the first 3-D flight film to be produced for IMAX Theatres. Produced by Boeing with assistance from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, this 45-minute documentary opens the history books and provides a retrospective of the evolution of flight. Viewers take to the skies and witness the flying machines of yesteryear that captured the fascination of the world. The Stearman wooden biplane was used for WWII pilot training and crop dusting; the Constellation was the first pressurized airliner and ushered in affordable, comfortable air travel for the masses; the Harrier Jet pioneered the use of vertical takeoff and landing. Finally, the movie focuses on two modern marvels, the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Narrated and presented by Boeing's Chief Test Pilot Mark Carriker, viewers ride along in the Dreamliner's first test flight. The movie features extensive use of computer animation to bring the experience of flight to viewers.
