Let God Be the Judge, directed by Emmbre Perry, is a 2009 stage play filmed in front of a live audience. In the film, Brian Matthews (Carl Anthony Payne II) is walking home from a movie with his girlfriend. Brian's girlfriend is concerned that he has lost the strong religious feelings he had when he was a younger man. The couple is debating the existence of angels when their conversation is interrupted by a mugger with a gun. After a struggle, Brian is shot dead by the mugger. When Brian realizes he is in heaven and has been murdered, he is very angry at God and demands to speak with him. While he never sees God, he is given a trial. He is told at the end of the trial he will either be granted eternal life or eternal damnation. Brian watches as people from his past testify on his behalf and against him. This outpouring of honesty makes Brian reconsider decisions he has made and awakens the religious feelings he had in his younger years.moreless
