Let Him Have It is based on the true life story of a man wrongfully accused, convicted and executed. Derek Bentley (Christopher Eccleston) has not amounted to much in his short life so far. Having faced years of epilepsy and repeated failures at school, it is no wonder that he is led astray by a group of teenage gangsters. The leader of the bunch, Chris Craig (Paul Reynolds), takes an immediate liking to Derek and shows him the tricks of the trade. On one particularly fateful night, Craig and Bentley are attempting to rob a warehouse when the police arrive. Bentley is apprehended but his friend Craig begins a deadly game of cat and mouse with the constables. Shots are exchanged and Bentley supposedly yells the titular phrase, "Let him have it, Chris!" But did he mean for Craig to shoot the officer or surrender the weapon? The ensuing courtroom battle will shake the foundations of England's legal system. Peter Medak directs this 1991 criminal drama.moreless
