Levitation is a 1997 psychological drama about an adopted teenager trying to find her way in the world. After a one-night stand, Acey Rawlin (Sarah Paulson) realizes she's pregnant and does not know what to do. She tries to ask for help from her alcoholic father (Christopher Boyer) and neglectful mother, Anna (Ann Magnuson), but they have nothing to offer her in terms of support or advice. The lost and lonely girl decides to go in search for some guidance by trying to reconnect with her biological mother, Sarah Fulton (also Ann Magnuson). She begins to experience strange moments of levitating off her bed at night and running into the same kind young man, Bob (Jeremy London) wherever she goes. At the same time, a late night DJ, Downbeat (Ernie Hudson) gives her advice and cheers her on from afar. Written and directed by Scott D. Goldstein, this mystical drama captures the longing for identity and connection in a modern world.moreless
