Light Keeps Me Company is a film that portrays the life of critically acclaimed Swedish cinematographer Sven Nykvist. It includes family photographs, rare home movies, and clips from some of his films. To speak to the character of Gustav, the film includes many interviews with established producers and film legends with whom he has worked over his career. This documentary offers an affectionate portrait of a reserved but loving man who has touched the lives of many people through his films. Light Keeps Me Company celebrates his life and tells his story as if he were actually there. The film is directed by Sven's son Carl-Gustaf and is partially narrated by Erland Josephson. Other cast members include Woody Allen, Harriet Anderson, and Richard Attenborough. This movie is beautiful and informative as it tells the story of one of the great visionaries of twentieth century cinema. Light Keeps Me Company was released in 2002 under the First Run Features studio.
