In the 1962 drama LISA, Dutch police investigator Peter Jongman is busily tracking down an ex-Nazi whose latest atrocity is kidnapping unsuspecting people to sell into slavery. Lisa is his latest victim, and his efforts to steal her away and sell her off are thwarted when Jongman catches up to them in London, where a showdown ends with the death of the ex-Nazi. Jongman stays with Lisa, deciding to accompany the distraught woman on her journey back to Palestine. Romance blossoms between the two, but Jongman's fears over becoming involved with the woman he saved and Lisa's horrific memories of life in a concentration camp keep the two from emotionally surrendering to their feelings.
