PG-13
Little Black Book is a 2004 satirical comedy film by director Nick Hurran, starring the late Brittany Murphy alongside Holly Hunter, Kathy Bates, and Ron Livingston. Murphy is Stacy Holt, an associate producer on a daytime talk show who is convinced that her boyfriend, Derek (Ron Livingston), is the right guy. There are just two problems: he seems to be a bit commitment phobic and he won't open up about past relationships. So when conniving colleague Barb Campbell-Dunn (Holly Hunter) advises that Stacy finds out what she wants to know, i.e. everything about his relationships before her, by sneaking a peek at his Palm Tungsten C and interviewing the three ex-girlfriends, a supermodel, a gynecologist, and a cook, that he still has listed in there, she does it. Stacy might think that investigating Derek's past will bring her closer to him, but it certainly doesn't seem so'especially when some unexpected bumps come up along the way. Little Black Book is a fun comedy about trust and the value of leaving some things where they belong'in the little black book.moreless

Lacks so much as a single fresh idea; it lacks an entertaining way of presenting its stale ideas, too.
