Movie Summary

Little Caesar is a 1931 crime film about two best friends who move to Chicago looking for fame and fortune, but the different ways chase their dreams leads to a tragic ending. Edward G. Robinson plays Caesar "Rico" Bandello, and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. plays Joe Massara. Joe and Rico got their start as petty criminals, and now that they're in the gang capital of the country, Rico intends to do whatever it takes to climb to the top of the criminal underworld. Joe, however, has dreams of hitting it big as a dancer, and he soon falls in love with another dancer, Olga (Glenda Farrell). As Rico leaves a bloody trail behind him on his quest to becoming a mob boss, Joe and Olga work their way up in the entertainment industry. As they both become more successful in their pursuits, the two old friends will have to choose between their loyalty to each other and their careers. Little Caesar is a classic of the pre-code era, and in 2000 it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.moreless
