Little Men is a 1934 drama directed by Phil Rosen and based on the novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott. Jo Bhaer (Erin O'Brien-Moore), formerly known as Jo March, is happily married to Professor Bhaer (Ralph Morgan). Together, the two open a progressive school for boys at Plumfield, the estate left to Jo by her deceased aunt. The school is filled with energetic students, including Jo's niece Daisy (Cora Sue Collins) and nephew Demi (Dickie Moore). One student, Nat (David Durand), is a newcomer to the school, but he blossoms in the support he finds at Plumfield. Jo and Professor Bhaer encourage Nat in his love of music. Overcoming some of his shyness, Nat decides to invite his old friend, Dan (Frankie Darro), to come see what the school is like. Dan is the opposite of Nat, however, and his wild and surly manner starts to turn Plumfield into a place filled with suspicion. Jo still believes that she can reform Dan and turn him into an upstanding young man, but she has her work cut out for her.moreless
