Little Sweetheart is a 1989 black comedy from director Anthony Simmons. Nine-year-old Thelma (Cassie Barasch) is the sweet little girl next door, an average American girl, with one notable exception - her passion for robbery, blackmail, and murder. When Thelma catches her neighbor in a compromising position, she turns to extortion to get what she wants from him. Robert Burger (John Hurt) gives in to the child's demands, presenting her with a camera in exchange for her silence. Thelma accepts the camera and promises to keep her mouth shut, but it isn't long before the little sweetheart is trolling for more trouble. Thelma shoots and kills Elizabeth (Ellie Raab), a neighborhood child, with a gun she stole from Robert's house. Using the camera Robert gave her, the devil child photographs evidence in the crime, implicating Robert in the kidnapping and murder of the little girl. Will anyone be able to outsmart the pathological Thelma?
