Live Wire is a 2004 action adventure starring Pierce Brosnan as an FBI agent trying to track a killer targeting Senators in Washington, DC. The Bureau's explosives specialist Danny O'Neill (Pierce Brosnan) must investigate the deadly series of eruptions in the nation's capital. Terrorists have developed a new and deadly liquid explosive that can easily be placed in water bottles and other beverages. While tracking the string of deaths, O'Neill and his team discover that the next likely target, Senator Frank Traveres (Ron Silver), is the lover of O'Neill's estranged wife, Terry (Lisa Eilbacher). After the death of their son, O'Neill found solace by drinking himself into oblivion, leaving Terry to find comfort with another man. As O'Neill struggles to maintain sobriety and his rabid jealousy, the terrorists, Mikhail Rashid (Ben Cross) and Al-red (Tony Plana), continue their swath of destruction through the government, which begins to threaten the very stability of the country.
