London to Brighton

Movie Summary

Director:
Paul Andrew Williams
Released:
2006
Rating:
R
London to Brighton is an intense thriller about London street-walkers caught up in the underworld of violent pimps and angry mob bosses. The action starts immediately when Kelly (Lorraine Stanley) and 11-year-old Joanne (Georgia Groome) burst into a dingy public restroom. Kelly is bruised and Joanne is crying; the pair is obviously running from something. Through a non-linear storyline patched together with flashbacks, we learn a tangled tale about how the two got into this situation. The story involves Duncan Allen (Alexander Morton), a powerful mob boss, and his son Stuart (Sam Spruell), who is out for revenge. Kelly's pimp, Derek (Johnny Harris), must find the two women or face the mobster's violent son. Meanwhile Kelly does her best to protect Joanne, a recent runaway, and the two form a strong bond as they try to make their way to Brighton to escape this intense and tangled situation. Filmed in Guildford, Brighton and London, the late-night street scenes add a bleak and gritty atmosphere to this suspenseful thriller.moreless
