Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity is a 2002 Canadian comedy drama film co-written and directed by Mina Shum, and starring Sandra Oh, Valerie Tian and Chang Tseng. Kin Ho Lum (Sandra Oh) is a single mother beset by financial problems and romantic woes. Her 12-year-old daughter Mindy (Valerie Tian) seeks to improve her mother's fortunes by using Taoist magic, but her skills fall into question when her spells seem to cause a security guard to lose his job and a local butcher to win the lottery. Undeterred by the failure of her early attempts, Mindy continues to try to help others with her magic, and along the way helps a young boy, Raymond Lee (Kevin Yee), to find his lost pet turtle. The stories of Mindy's magic and its sometimes unwitting beneficiaries begin to intertwine, and Mindy discovers that she is capable of helping others with her hidden talents after all.
