Losing Ground is a dramatic character study about a group of compulsive gamblers in a Las Vegas bar. A gripping look at despair is seen through the eyes of gambling addicts, held captive by their machines as though they were in a trance. The night starts slow, and the doors are locked, but when he sees one of his regulars, bartender Kieran (Kendall Pigg) lets them in to perch on their respective video poker machines. From the beautiful young Michelle (Eileen O'Connell), to the grizzled Vegas veteran Marty (Monique Vukovic), the pain and feeling of desperation is everywhere in this dank, poorly lit room. When Turner (John Good), a nice young cowboy rolls in and has a little flash of beginners luck, the angst is written all over the faces of the rest of them, as the night threatens to end the same way they always do. Bryan Wizemann writes and directs this gritty, real time film, adopted from the award winning stage play by Tom Noonan, that shows an all too true side of life in Las Vegas.moreless
