Lost in the Pershing Point Hotel takes place in the 1970s and is a story narrated by the protagonist (Leslie Jordan) as a flashback of his life when he finds himself in purgatory after a drug overdose. His life began in the small-town South under the rule of two fanatically religious parents. After he confesses that he is gay, which in his household is a mortal sin, he at first renounces sex and then later, at the age of forty, renounces his faith and moves out of his parents' house to the big city of Atlanta where he hopes to gain acceptance from the gay community. Instead he finds Miss Make-Do (Erin Chandler) who leads him into a world of drug addiction and prostitution. When Miss Make-Do and our protagonist have a falling out, he finds a new friend in Tripper (Mark Pellegrino), a straight and street-wise man and the two develop an earnest yet co-dependent and destructive relationship.
