Lou is a 2010 dramatic film written and directed by Belinda Chayko, which revolves around the hostile relationship between mother and daughter during times of financial insecurity. Rhia (Emily Barclay) is forced to work twice as hard to raise her three daughters after her husband abandoned the family several months earlier. However, the eldest daughter, Lou (Lily Bell Tindley), feels sympathy for her father and strongly believes that it is her mother's fault that he was forced to leave the family. As the environment in the family becomes more hostile each day, Lou decides to stop communicating with her mother and live an isolated life. The situation changes when Doyle (John Hurt), her grandfather who shows first signs of senile dementia, moves into their house to receive the care he needs. Doyle has obsessive visions about his deceased wife, but he realizes that Lou strongly reminds him of his beloved woman. When Lou becomes the object of Doyle's affection through fascinating stories from the past, the life of the little girl dramatically changes.moreless
