Movie Summary

Director:
John Moffitt
Released:
1988
Rating:
R
Love at Stake, a comedic gem, takes place in Salem, Massachusetts during the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. The movie chronicles the lives of two crooks who concoct a witch hunt in order to steal land from the citizens. This scheme, however, complicates the life of baker Sara Lee (Kelly Preston) when a mysterious stranger, Faith Stewart (Barbera Carrera), enters town and one of her mixing cauldrons suspiciously boils over. As the mayor of Salem tries to hype the witch trials, the clergy seek justice, and the assistant minister pursues the town baker, Sara Lee. Love at Stake is revved up with New England clam chowder wrestling, Indians smoking marijuana, and the mischief of a real witch. With clich''s being attacked left and right and the various sight gags, Love at Stake is a comedic masterpiece, where even the actors are seen enjoying their roles. All in all, Love at Stake is a knee-slappingly funny movie that entertains from beginning to end.moreless
