Love in the Afternoon is a classic romantic comedy starring Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn in a May-December love affair. In Paris, Monsieur X hires private investigator Claude Chavasse to find out if his wife has been cheating on him with a notorious American playboy, Frank Flannagan. Chavasse does catch the two on film in an illicit moment. When Chavasse breaks the news to the husband, the detective's daughter, Ariane (Audrey Hepburn), overhears Monsieur X threaten to kill Flannagan. She rushes to the Hotel Ritz to warn him, assuming the identity of a femme fatale and leaving without giving Frank her name or any identifying information. Intrigued, the playboy millionaire decides to hire Chavasse to track down the "mystery woman"... Billy Wilder directs this 1957 comedy.
