Love the Hard Way, released in 2001, is a noir film adapted from the novel "Yoban Shi Huoyan She Hai Shu (Fire and Ice)". Clair (Charlotte Ayanna) is a well behaved college student with a fairly boring history. When she meets the gorgeous Jack (Adrien Brody), a thief, her life completely changes. She teaches him about the beauty of this world, and helps him discover his inner self, an aspiring writer. While they are busy falling madly in love, detective Linda Fox (Pam Grier) is busy trying to put Jack behind bars for his latest crimes. With no other choice Jack has to leave, and doesn't have time to explain to Clair. With the loss of her love, Clair spirals down a dark path, leaving audiences feeling her pain. This heartbreaking tale from director Peter Sehr shows audiences the meaning of true love, and the pain that comes with losing it.moreless
