Loving Jezebel is a 1999 romantic comedy, written and directed by Kwyn Bader. In the movie, Theodorous Melville (Hill Harper) is a man with an unfortunate habit as far as romance is concerned: he always falls in love with the so-called “Jezebels,” women who are already in serious romantic relationships with other men. This unfortunate streak of ill luck begins in kindergarten and plagues him all the way through to his adult life. Now Theodorous has three women in his life, all three of whom he cannot actually have. There is the beautiful acting student, Frances (Nicole Ari Parker), with whom he maintains a platonic relationship. There are the random crazy girls who pass in and out of his life, their teddy bear obsessions and all. And then there is the fledgling poet, Samantha (Laurel Holloman), on whom he has a passionate crush because she is surely the woman for him. The only problem is that she is quite married. Loving Jezebel is a funny film that flips the books: this time it is not the woman who gets lied to by the taken men, but rather the man who gets lied to by the taken women.moreless
