Loving follows the story of Brooks Wilson (George Segal) who is a commercial artist with big dreams. However, both his life and career goals are not coming to together like he thought they would. At home, Brooks has a wife named Selma (Eva Marie Saint) and their two children. That sounds perfect, except for the fact he is having an affair with Grace (Janis Young) who wants a long-term commitment from him. Career-wise, Brooks is trying to earn a contract with Lepridon (Sterling Hayden), which he has been unsuccessful at earning. He begins to think he will be successful when Lepridon invites him and his wife to a dinner party, however that's when he begins an affair with Nelly (Nancie Phillips). The two go to Lepridon's backyard where they are intimate, but are caught on closed circuit television. By the end of the party, Brooks earns the account, but could lose his marriage.
