Lulu Belle (Dorothy Lamour) spends her nights in song at a cheap dive located in turn of the century Natchez, Mississippi. There she gets to know young attorney George Davis (George Montgomery). He falls for her and soon finds himself financially ruined. Lulu takes a job singing in New Orleans to get by while she plots to get George to return home to Natchez. As part of her plan, she makes him think she has fallen for famed prize-fighter Butch Cooper (Greg McClure). Seeing his girl after another man makes George violently jealous. Everything goes wrong and George finds himself in jail while Lulu is free to go on to New York with millionaire Harry Randolph (Otto Kruger) and start her career as a sensational singer on Broadway. With her dream finally realized, what about love? Is the chance for true love gone? After all she's been through, she finds herself looking back with the wish in her heart to turn back time and fix her mistakes.moreless
