Lulu on the Bridge is a 1998 dramatic romance film directed and written by Paul Auster. Izzy Maurer (Harvey Keitel) is a prominent jazz musician who has his life forever changed by a crazy mad man. Maurer was working a gig at a local cafe when the attack occurred, and everyone in the small town knew all the details of the fateful night. Unable to deal with the sympathy of others and his new reality, Maurer follows up on a mysterious object that he found. While trying to return the object to its rightful owner, he meets Celia Burns (Mira Sorvino), a young, struggling actress. Burns and Maurer become quick friends and both seem to comfort the other. However, when Maurer helps Burns in her career, he begins to feel entitled to more of her time. Can Burns and Maurer continue their friendship, or would they both be better off to go their separate ways?
