Mad Dog Morgan is a 1976 biographical drama about the Australian outlaw starring Dennis Hopper (Blue Velvet). When Australia was still a colony of the British Empire, convicts would be shipped "down under" to begin a new life on a new continent. In the 1850s, Daniel Morgan (Dennis Hopper) was an Irish immigrant trying to start a new life as a gold digger but had no luck and turned to armed robbery and horse theft. After getting caught, Morgan serves six years in a brutal prison environment. He heads to the Australian Outback where he meets an Aboriginal, Billy (David Gulpilil), who helps him learn how to live in the harsh environment. Billy and Morgan become crime partners, using the rugged Outback as a hideout after robbing wealthy landowners and travelers, before law enforcement sends out its largest hunting party to date to hunt them down. Directed by Phillipe Mora, this brutal crime drama contains graphic violence that makes the film best suited to mature audiences.moreless
