Mad Dog Time is a crime film that centers around the Mafia. Vic (Richard Dreyfuss) is the mob boss, serving time in a psychiatric institution. With Vic away, Ben London (Gabriel Byrne) has been running his nightclub, with Mickey Holiday (Jeff Goldblum) as Vic's top enforcer. In attempt to gain power in the Mafia world, Jake Parker (Kyle MacLachlan), Vic's adversary, brings in hired guns to eliminate Vic's men. Mickey is ready for these men and a showdown ensues, ending tragically for some. Meanwhile, Vic has been released from the psychiatric institution and is ready to reprise his role of mob boss. However, Ben London has other plans; he wants to become mob boss, so he makes a proposition to Vic that would gain him control of the organization.
