Madonna's Secret is a 1946 mystery/thriller from director William Thiele. James Harlan Corbin (Francis Lederer), an eccentric painter, flees to New York to escape controversy surrounding his paintings when his model is found dead in Paris. In hopes of a clean start, he moves to New York and starts painting. His misfortune follows him, however. Shortly after he begins painting in this new city, the model he is using turns up dead. His bad luck continues when a second New York model mysteriously disappears and is also found dead. The sister of the second model is positive that Corbin is responsible for her sister's death. Posing as model, the sister, Linda "Morgan" North (Ann Rutherford), aims to show the world that Corbin is a cold-blooded killer and seeks vengeance for her sister. Not long after their paths cross, her plan crumbles as an apparent romance starts heating up the screen. Is Corbin really falling for Morgan, or is he trying to save himself by playing on her emotions to clear his name?moreless
