Movie Summary

Director:
Amy Holden Jones
Released:
1987
Rating:
PG
Maid to Order is a comedic film directed by Amy Holden Jones that centers on the rather spoiled Jesse Montgomery (Ally Sheedy) whose wild and immature partying lifestyle grates on her father's nerves. When she finds herself in jail, her father Charles (Tom Skerritt) considers a life without a destructive daughter as Jesse. In a bid to open her eyes, Jesse's "fairy godmother" Stella (Beverly D'Angelo) decides to show the spoiled girl what life would be like if she wasn't a Montgomery. Stuck without an identity, money, and her father to bail her out, Jesse has to get a job working as a maid for an exceptionally eccentric wealthy couple Georgette and Stan Starey (Valerie Perrine and Dick Shawn). Jesse struggles with her attitude and her poor skills as she faces reality in how she once acted while she makes friends with the other servants in the mansion, including the singing cook Audrey (Merry Clayton), Maria (Begona Plaza), and the handsome Nick (Michael Ontkean).moreless
