Maine Pyar Kiya is an Indian Romance film that shows how love and a little hard work can mend the gap between rich and poor. The film begins with Karan (Alok Nath) and Kishan (Rajeev Verma) living in an Indian village. Both are young and best friends, and they promise to stay that way forever. Karan's wife (Pervin Dastur) gives birth to Suman (Bhagyashree) at the same time Kishan's son Prem (Salman Khan) is born. The film then jumps forward twenty years and shows Karan a poor mechanic happily living in an Indian Slum. Kishan is a wealthy businessman and lives in a mansion in Mumbai. A company offers Karan a job working abroad, and he asks Kishan to look after his daughter while he's away. Kishan reluctantly agrees. Suman meets an older Prem and after a while the two fall in love. Prem wants to marry Suman, but her father has other plans for marrying his son. Kishan accuses Suman of trapping Prem into marriage because if his money and sends her back home. Prem and his father argue, and Kishan disinherits him. Prem wins the heart of his love again, but Karan will only let him marry Suman if he can prove that he can support her. Prem must now enter an unknown world of poverty so he can be with one he loves.moreless
