Malice is a 1993 mystery crime thriller directed by Harold Becker and based on a novel by Jonas McCord. In the film, Tracey (Nicole Kidman) and Andy (Bill Pullman) are a happy married couple restoring a huge Victorian house in a Boston suburb. Andy is an assistant dean at a local college, and Tracy teaches art to children. Now that the couple have their dream home almost complete, they are eager to start a family. A series of events leads the couple to meet Dr. Jed Hill (Alec Baldwin), a brilliant surgeon who was recently hired at the local hospital. Since he is new in town, the couple rent the third floor of their home to him. As soon as he moves in, the couple find their lives in turmoil, which include a dead woman, Paula Bell (Gwyneth Paltrow), being discovered in their backyard and an emergency life-saving surgery for Tracey. With his life spinning out-of-control, Andy begins to doubt that he knows the people in his life as well as he thought.
