Mambo Italiano is the hilarious story of Angelo Barberini (Luke Kirby), a young Italian man struggling to come out of the closet to his family. Maria (Ginette Reno) and Gino (Paul Sorvino) left Italy for a better life in the United States, but due to ridiculously funny circumstances, they end up in Canada and settle to raise Angelo and their daughter Anna (Claudia Ferri) in an old-fashioned Italian home. When Angelo announces he's leaving the nest before marriage, Maria, Gino and Anna have a hard time understanding why. That is, until Angelo finally admits his sexual orientation. The shocks keep coming for Maria and Gino as Angelo introduces his parents to his boyfriend Nino Paventi (Peter Miller) - his childhood best friend! Angelo may be relieved to have finally come out, but his police officer boyfriend is nowhere near ready to tell his co-workers, or his Sicilian mama Lina Paventi (Mary Walsh). Dodging the not-so-helpful advice from their relatives, the young couple struggle to make their relationship work.moreless
