Manderlay is a drama film made by Lars von Trier in 2005. It is the sequel to Dogville, which starred Nicole Kidman as the lead role. In this film, actress Bryce Dallas Howard replaces Nicole Kidman in the lead role as Grace. The story picks up where Dogville left off. It is the 1930's. Grace and her father (Willem Dafoe) are fleeing the city of Dogville as they have just burned it down to the ground with a team of gangsters. The clique is traveling on the road and stops in a town just outside of a plantation named Manderlay. Grace is curious, and wanders onto the plantation. What she finds is most appalling: On the Manderlay plantation, slavery still exists. Grace asks her father and her father's lawyer Joseph (Teddy Kempner) to stay until she can ensure these slaves are freed. But the mission she embarks on proves to be more difficult than imagined. With a shocking twist at the end, this isn't a film you want to miss!moreless
