Maniac Cop is the 1988 cult horror favorite from two masters of the genre: director William Lustig (Maniac) and prolific writer Larry Cohen (It's Alive, Q, The Winged Serpent). A sinister stranger in a police uniform starts to attack and murder unsuspecting innocents. Frank McCrae (Tom Atkins, Night of the Creeps, The Fog) starts to investigate but cannot prevent the murderer from continuing. Panic spreads in the public as the news spread creating an enormous problem between the police and them. Finally a cop, Jack Forrest (Bruce Campbell, The Evil Dead) is arrested when his wife is found murdered in a motel room. However, he claims he is innocent, and we know that he was in the room with another female officer, whom he had an affair with. The problem is no one but McCrae believes him. McCrae's trail leads within the police HQ. The female officer, Theresa Mallory (Laurene Landon) is attacked because she is the only that can give Forrest an alibi. With the aid of McCrae she survives the attack, and McCrae start to follow an incredible trail that suggests foul play well within the precinct...moreless
