Mannequin is a 1987 romantic comedy film with a major element of fantasy thrown into the mix. Directed and co-written by Michael Gottlieb, Mannequin is set in present-day Philadelphia, with unsuccessful artist Jonathan Switcher (Andrew McCarthy) as the story's protagonist. Jonathan is stuck at yet another dead-end job, in a factory that produces mannequins. Although his obsessive perfectionism leads to his dismissal, Jonathan manages to create an incredibly beautiful and lifelike mannequin. Unbeknownst to the now jobless Jonathan, his creation is possessed by an Egyptian goddess named Emmy Hesire (Kim Cattrall) who is traveling through time on the run from an arranged marriage. When Jonathan stumbles across his mannequin in a department store window and lucks upon a job as a window decorator, it gives the pair a chance to reunite. The reunion takes a surprising turn when Emmy comes alive for Jonathan alone. A covert romance blossoms, while the store display featuring Emmy attracts amazing business - leading to an interruption by Jonathan's former flame Roxie Shield (Carol Davis), who works for a rival company.
