Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing and Charm School is a musical directed by Randall Miller and produced by Samuel Goldwyn. It is an expanded version of a short film by the same title. In the film a man who owns and operates his own bakery, Frank Keane (Robert Carlyle), is walking around in a fog, unable to function since the death of his wife. When he arrives on the scene of an accident he makes a promise to a dying man (John Goodman) to fulfill his last wishes. The man was on his way to Pasadena to meet with his childhood sweetheart. Frank goes in search of the man's childhood sweetheart, arriving at the address given on a Thursday night and finds himself attending a dance class. There, he will not only learn the Lindy Hop but how to live again. The film is presented in vignettes that jump back and forth between the present and flashbacks to both the recent past and the main characters' childhoods.moreless
