Martin's Day is a 1985 drama directed by Alan Gibson. The film follows Martin "Stech" Stechert (Richard Harris) who kidnaps a young boy, also named Martin (Justin Henry), in a ruse that allows him to escape from prison. Stech takes the young Martin on a journey across the country to a cabin on a lake where he used to go as a boy. At the cabin, the boy comes to respect Stech for his ability to stand-up to authority, a skill which he's yet to master. Meanwhile, police Lt. Lardner (James Coburn) and psychologist Dr. Mennen (Lindsay Wagner) are in hot pursuit, interpreting Stech's past and trying to determine where he will take the boy next. As the story moves towards its dramatic conclusion, Stech must come to grips with his past as he decides between his freedom and the Martin's welfare. Fans of fast paced psychological dramas will enjoy this intense character drama.
