Matador is a 1986 Spanish film starring Antonio Banderas and directed by acclaimed auteur Pedro Almodovar. When Angel Jimenez (Banderas) is questioned by Diego regarding his sexuality, Angel claims that despite his lack of experience with women, he is in fact, a heterosexual. Later that day, Angel attempts to rape his next-door neighbor Eva (Eva Cobo), but fails when he faints at the sight of blood on her face. When Angel's mother forces him to go to church and to confession, Angel instead goes to the police station and confesses to the rape. He notices pictures of murdered women on the officer's desk, and admits to the killing of those women as well. Angel recognizes the women as students of Diego's and shows the police that the women were buried in Diego's backyard. Though Angel has shown them all the evidence they need, the police are not convinced that Angel is the killer. When the police discover that Angel faints at the sight of blood, they realize Angel's innocence. Also starring Assumpta Serna and Nacho Martinez, Almodovar considers Matador to be one of his weakest films.moreless
