Maybe I'll Come Home In the Spring is a 1971 drama about Dennie (Sally Fields), a young woman who finds herself torn between her family and her new lifestyle. Caught up in the exciting new ideas of her peers, Dennie leaves her painfully average suburban home to live with her charismatic and irresponsible hippie boyfriend, Flack (David Carradine). It turns out that life among the hippies is not all Dennie hoped it would be. Reluctantly, she heads back home and tries to make amends with her disapproving family. However, once she is back with her father, Ed (Jackie Cooper), mother, Claire (Eleanor Parker) and little sister, Susie (Lane Bradbury), Dennie realizes that they are in more trouble than she ever was. Claire is obsessed with appearances and just wants to be the perfect family, although both she and Ed have fallen deeper and deeper into alcoholic habits. Susie idolizes Dennie and hates living with her parents, and so has turned to crystal meth as a way to act out. Dennie has to come to terms with her dysfunctional family and they have to make peace with her before everyone can begin to heal.moreless
