Meet Dr. Christian is a 1939 dramatic film, part of a series of six movies that revolve around Dr. Paul Christian (Jean Hersholt) and his medical practice in a small town, which was written by Harvey Gates and directed by Bernard Vorhaus. The inhabitants of River's End benefit from the medical services of kind-hearted Dr. Christian and his dedicated assistants; among them nurse Judy Price (Dorothy Lovett) and Judy's boyfriend, pharmacist, Roy Davis (Robert Baldwin). The town is in need of a new hospital that would enable Dr. Christian to work in better conditions and care more effectively for his patients, but Mayor John Hewitt (Paul Harvey) thinks otherwise. He does not agree to provide the necessary funds for the hospital because he thinks Dr. Christian is an old-fashioned doctor who should be replaced with someone younger and more flexible. When the Mayor's daughter, Anne Hewitt (Enid Bennett), suffers from a complicated traumatic injury, Dr. Christian does not hesitate to successfully perform the emergency surgery in spite of lacking some delicate tools. Now the town's Mayor may have to reconsider his intentions.moreless
