Meet the Family is an independent 2005 comedy about a Sunday family dinner with unexpected consequences. Humphrey Rump (Clent Bowers) has never had much luck with women because of his shy nature and large physique. So, his parents Theotis (Beau Billingslea) and Aretha (Marilyn Sue Perry) are delighted to hear that he will be bringing his new fianc''e Lacy (Jennifer Alden) home for the weekly dinner. They excitedly invite over the large extended family, including Humphrey's brother Darnell (Donn Carl Harper) and sister, Eve (Alisa Banks), as well as grandparents, cousins and distant relations. Much to their surprise, Lacy is nothing like the loud, squabbling Rumps, she's is petite, polite and white. Everyone from Grandpa (John Gipson) to his youngest cousin (Herica Thompson) lets loose and Lacy's love for Humphrey will be sorely tested in a long night of conflict and crude behavior. Stan Lerner writes and directs this comedy about family and cultural contrasts.
