Meet the Parents is a 2000 comedy directed by Jay Roach. Before Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) can propose to his long-time girlfriend Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo), he knows that he must ask for permission from her father, Jack (Robert De Niro). Since Pam's sister is about to get married, the couple flies to stay with Jack and his wife Dina (Blythe Danner) so that they can attend the ceremony. Although Greg intends to get Jack's approval to marry, his plans are put on hold when he is receives an icy reception from Pam's father. Jack immediately shows his disapproval that Greg is a male nurse and incorrectly believes that Greg smokes marijuana. Soon, unlucky Greg finds himself becoming the catalyst for several unfortunate and destructive incidents around the Byrnes' home. As Greg tries to hide the mishaps, he finds himself facing off against Pam's father, who, much to Greg's dismay, is a retired CIA agent.moreless
