Meeting Daddy is a hilarious movie about a sad and lonely Los Angeles writer named Peter Silverblatt (Josh Charles). His normal everyday life is changed drastically when he falls madly in love with the beautiful Melanie Branson (Alexandra Wentworth) from Georgia. Peter has no idea what he's getting into when he accepts Melanie's invitation to meet her parents and all hell really breaks loose when he arrives in her hometown. Melanie's extremely eccentric and cantankerous father, Mr. Branson (Lloyd Bridges), along with her two annoying brothers - Larry (Beau Bridges) and Dink (Walter Olkewicz) - as his sidekicks, is intent on breaking the two apart and will stop at seemingly nothing, even manipulation, to achieve this. Peter and Melanie try equally hard to get out of there and back to Los Angeles as soon as possible. Things take an unexpected and comic turn when Mr. Branson tries to set Peter up with the neighborhood tramp Laurel (Kristy Swanson).
