Melody Parade is a musical romantic comedy. The protagonist, Jimmy Tracy (Eddie Quillan), starts out as a bus boy at the Hollywood Melody Club in California. When Jimmy meets the new hat check girl, Anne O'Rourke (Mary Beth Hughes), he introduces himself as a talent agent. He tells her that he will set up an audition for her in front of the club manager, Happy Harrington (Tim Ryan). However, Jimmy is unaware that the club's owner has just died, leaving Happy to foot the bill for all the creditors. Fearing for his job and looking bad in front of the lovely Anne, Jimmy turns to schemes. Jimmy talks to Gloria (Irene Ryan), the sole heir of the club owner, and proposes that she must see Anne perform. Gloria agrees and everything seems perfect. But when the creditors begin requesting their money, the plot yo-yos between success and failure for the club.
